LUCAS: an original tool for landscape modelling
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of this paper is to present an original modelling tool for biogeographical systems. This software named LUCAS (LUcifer Cellular Automata Simulator) has been developed within the European programme LUCIFER (Land Use Change Interactions with Fire in MeditERrranean landscapes). LUCAS constitutes general software, based on coupling local dynamics described by a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations with a cellular automaton spatial model. Various parameters related to the system considered can be chosen by the user. Numerous possibilities of LUCAS are illustrated through a real application regarding the catchment of a Polish river. 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

3D Modelling as a Tool for Landscape Restoration and Analysis
The region of North-west Bohemia has been influenced by the open cast mining for more than the last hundred years. During this period has the coal mining activity become very intense leaving huge change on the landscape. We may require the original landscape for many purposes (historical, landscape renewal). One of the ways how to reconstruct the original shape of the landscape is the usage of ...
متن کاملIntegrated Grid Based Ecological and Economic (INGRID) landscape model - A tool to support landscape management decisions
The aim of the INGRID landscape model is to simulate the ecological effects of management schemes for dry grasslands and to calculate costs in order to serve as decision tool for nature conservation agencies. To predict the local and regional risk of extinction of plants and animals with respect to different management scenarios/disturbance regimes, we apply modelling approaches on different sc...
متن کاملA software tool dedicated to the modelling of landscape networks
Since landscape connectivity reflects a basic form of interaction between species and their environment, the modelling of landscape networks is currently an important issue for researchers in ecology and practitioners of landscape management alike. Graph-based modelling has recently been shown to be a powerful way of representing and analysing landscape networks. Graphab 1.0 is designed as a pa...
متن کاملFrom landscape-scale models of forest biodiversity change towards an integrated planning tool
Spatially explicit models linking biological field data with remotely-sensed land cover data have become commonplace for landscape-scale biodiversity assessments, but they usually neither consider time series data nor include future scenarios. Extrapolation models addressing these deficiencies for three keystone species/groups of the KakamegaNandi forests in western Kenya proved to be a suitabl...
متن کاملModelling and Numerical Simulation of Cutting Stress in End Milling of Titanium Alloy using Carbide Coated Tool
Based on the cutting force theory, the cutting stress in end milling operation was predicted satisfactorily through simulation of using finite element method. The mechanistic force models were introduced in high accuracy force predictions for most applications. The material properties in the simulations were defined based on the cutting force theory, as a function of strain and strain rate wher...
